Research Test Vacuum Pump System High-Voltage VFD Speed Control Project
Other Applications (Research Testing) | Centrifugal Vacuum Pumps / Research Test Exhaust System | High-Voltage VFD Speed Control
Project Background
The project serves an organization's test exhaust system and uses dozens of high-voltage VFDs to drive a centrifugal vacuum pump system.
Project Challenges
- The vacuum pumps are driven by 12,500 kW, 10 kV three-phase asynchronous motors, making them high-power, high-voltage motor loads.
- The system must adjust motor speed and shaft power for different operating conditions and coordinate with the on-site high-voltage switchgear and control system.
- Research testing places high demands on vacuum conditions, equipment stability and exhaust system reliability.
Dayu Solution
Cascaded high-voltage VFDs control the speed of the vacuum pump motors. The customer's high-voltage switchgear connects to the 10 kV supply, and the VFD outputs directly drive the high-voltage motors. The system coordinates high-voltage breaker closing and opening, precharging, run and stop signals with the on-site control system.
Key Configuration
- Motor: YPKS1000-6; rated power 12,500 kW; rated voltage 10 kV.
- Load: Centrifugal vacuum pump.
- Configuration: GBT-MVG series high-voltage VFD.
- System: High-voltage switchgear + cascaded high-voltage VFD + high-voltage motor + vacuum pump.
Application Value
The system uses Dayu Electric high-voltage VFDs and power distribution switchgear to provide variable-frequency speed control for the test exhaust system's vacuum pumps. It supports operation under different conditions and helps meet vacuum and exhaust requirements during testing.
