Hejin Hongda Special Steel 1,300 m³ Blast Furnace BPRT Variable-Frequency Soft-Starting Project
Metallurgy & Steel | 1,300 m³ Blast Furnace / AV63 (BPRT) Unit | One Variable-Frequency Soft Starter Serving Two Motors
Project Background
The AV63 (BPRT) unit at Hongda Special Steel's 1,300 m³ blast furnace requires soft-starting control for its large motors. As key power and energy recovery equipment in the blast furnace system, the BPRT unit places high demands on motor starting and transfer reliability.
Project Challenges
- Two large motors need to share soft-starting equipment to improve equipment utilization.
- Variable-frequency soft starting must be followed by synchronous transfer to the line-frequency supply.
- Critical blast furnace equipment requires reliable starting while minimizing the impact on the power grid and mechanical system.
Dayu Solution
A high-voltage variable frequency soft starter serves two motors. The incoming and outgoing circuits are selected according to the motor to be started. After the motor accelerates, the system detects differences in frequency, voltage and phase angle, then uses phase-locked control to transfer the motor to the line-frequency bypass.
Key Configuration
- Application: AV63 (BPRT) unit for a 1,300 m³ blast furnace.
- System: Soft-starting equipment serving multiple motors.
- Configuration: GBRQ series high-voltage variable frequency soft starter.
- Control: Dual-supply selection, dual-motor selection, phase-locked synchronization and line-frequency bypass.
Application Value
The project demonstrates the engineering capability to provide soft starting for two motors using one starter, followed by synchronous transfer. The application operates stably and provides smooth starting.
