Jiangsu Binxin Special Steel 22 MW Blast Furnace Blower BPRT Variable-Frequency Soft-Starting Project
Metallurgy & Steel | Blast Furnace Blower / AV63 BPRT Unit | One Variable-Frequency Soft Starter Serving Two 22 MW Motors
Project Background
The blast furnace blower retrofit project at Jiangsu Binxin Special Steel involves multiple motors. High-voltage variable frequency soft-starting equipment must be integrated into the existing production system, including its control logic and on-site system interfaces.
Project Challenges
- Starting 22 MW-class motors requires careful control of the impact on the power grid and mechanical system.
- The soft-starting equipment must serve multiple motors, select the motor to be started and transfer it to the line-frequency bypass.
- The retrofit must coordinate with the existing DCS and on-site control logic.
Dayu Solution
A cascaded high-voltage variable frequency soft starter forms a system serving two motors. Incoming, outgoing and line-frequency bypass circuits enable motor selection. After acceleration, phase-locked synchronization allows the motor to transfer to line-frequency operation.
Key Configuration
- Motors: Multiple units, each rated at 22,000 kW.
- Configuration: GBRQ series high-voltage variable frequency soft starter.
- System: One soft starter serving two motors, with line-frequency bypass.
- Interface: DCS communication and control.
Application Value
Dayu Electric provides a soft-starting system with one starter serving two 22 MW motors, with the capability to adapt the solution to existing-system retrofits.
